Co Production of hard hitting Mekong Environmental Awareness Documentary

Exploremore production company headed by the founder of the MDF Mick O’Shea donated 50% of the companies after cost revenues from the film Exploring the Mother of Waters to initiate the work of the foundation and the foundations existence today is to a large degree a direct result of that initial support. Exploremore productions currently have another extremely important Mekong focused film under development that has the capacity to bring the Mekong Cascade human rights and environmental issues into the global spotlight.

Exploremore productions partially completed second film ‘The Dammed Mother’ uses a direct hard hitting environmental and human rights expose angle to explore the complex issues surrounding the Mekong Cascade Project. The film uses dramatic scenic and environmental imagery captured as part of the Mekong First Descent Expedition along with telling interviews from internationally renowned experts, academics, opposition groups, political leaders, dam builders and local peoples to fully expose the Mekong Cascade related issues to the viewer.

Currently around 85% of all the footage from all six of the Mekong nations that is required to create this second film has been captured by explore more productions over the course of the past 3 years however this important footage is today sitting in boxes due to lack of funds to complete the final stages of the project. The Mekong Descent Foundation intends to invest in the production to the value of $52,000 in return for a 40% ownership stake in the film. These funds will then be reinvested so that the film can be post produced into the first high quality documentary film ever to fully expose the Mekong cascade related issues to the world via television.

Forty percent of all revenue received from sales of the film will go directly to the Mekong Descent Foundation and via this method the foundation will receive a revenue stream with which to fund future mass media projects. The importance of this film in introducing the Mekong cascade human rights and environmental issues to the world can not be overstated and its completion and distribution to broadcasters throughout the world is considered a critical next step in bringing the Mekong Cascade issues into the global spotlight.
